All Things Through Him and For Him

All Things Through and for Him:

"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." (Colossians 1:16)

I love chemistry. The more I learn, the more in awe I become. How stupendously amazing all of His creation truly is! The way each element of this universe is kept together by the differing behaviours of the trillions upon trillions of electrons is spectacular. This leads me to the next verse in Colossians.

"And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17)

I must step back and take a breath, because the wonder of it all may feel overwhelming. All this, all of this impeccably crafted nature surrounding was all spoken with the lips of Divinity. One sentence and the beginning of light established, one breath and the heart of man starts beating. How it all glorifies the Lord so effortlessly and elegantly.

Everything is held together by Almighty hands. If God has such care for each and every one of those minuscule electrons, how much more will He take care of the situations in your life that seem to be deteriorating?

If all things are held together by His strong and mighty hands, don't you believe that He can hold you together? That the God of miracles can miraculously keep you in one piece? And not just in one piece, but turn all of these ashes into something beautiful.

"To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." (Isaiah 61:3)

Through Him. Through Him we discover uncontainable, inextinguishable joy that burns uncontrollably inside our hearts. Because His lovely Spirit inhabits our hearts, there will be no room for mourning. For Him, all of our gloominess and sorrowful days are transformed and renewed to be joyous days filled with praise, and it's all for His glory.

Now can you see yet another side to this verse in Colossians? All things through Him, and all things for Him. All of creation made through Him, and all of creation sings praise for Him. All of our days created by Him, and our sadness transfigured to be gladness for the glory of His Name. Through Him, for Him.

"All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." (John 1:3)

Without Him, there's simply nothing. No life, no joy. Nothing. Take some time today to look around you and watch the world go on. See how the tree grows slowly but beautifully. Marvel at how the colourful flowers reflect the many beautiful attributes of the Lord, and how the song birds never cease to sing His praise songs morning after morning.

All of nature glorifies You, Lord. All this! It's all because of You, and it's all for You! Sovereign and mighty Father, you make all things beautiful! "He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end."(Ecclesiastes 3:11) Beginning to end.
