I Found My Life When I Laid it Down

I Found My Life When I Laid it Down:

"So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet." (James 4:7-10 MSG)

Life is tough, and oftentimes we find ourselves in the midst of certain circumstances that are unbearably trying. When times get so hard and hurtful, we tend to question or even doubt God's love and faithfulness. If this is you today, allow me to encourage you - God has a supreme and sovereign plan for your good and His glory! (See Romans 8:28). He takes each chapter of our lives, every single little detail, and He binds it all together into the most beautiful book.

Every season of our lives has purpose and meaning. God composes each song - each life - with intent, and every note resounds from the depths of His heart of love. We can trust Him wholly. He won't ever disappoint us.

In my own personal walk with God, I've slowly come to the revelation of releasing. And by that I mean, letting go of everything I once so tightly gripped with fearful-fists, and laying all down at His feet. When I surrender all and lay the absolute entirety of my everything down, that's my way of saying, "God I worship You for all that You are. I worship You with my submissive surrender. I praise You with my wholehearted trust. I receive all You have for me, and I believe all Your ways are good and pure."

In surrendering, I discovered more of His heart, more of His power, more of His peace, and more of His splendour. There truly is none like our God. Right when everything seems to be crumbling to pieces, He turns every last particle around to build something completely brand new and unlike ever before.

Only our God is able to take the dust of our fallen walls and make something so beautiful out of these lives of ashes. I found my life when I laid it down before Him. Will you trust Him with yours?

  1. I like the MSG. I find it helpful in understanding what I am reading.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (KJV)

Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet. (MSG)

That was encouraging. I like your explanation of surrender and the results of your surrender to God. Transparent and vulnerable, the beginning of the year I experience much pain. God lifted me up after going on my knees and crying out to him. Paraphrasing what I said and to tie with what is written above was "I surrender Lord". This is an ongoing process with me and at men's group we are discussing the idea of fully surrendering and are we surrendering our life fully to God or only parts of our life. Great job and Amen. :)
