Death Has No Hold on Me
Death Has No Hold on Me:
"For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? ” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless." (1 Corinthians 15:53-58)
I just love this passage of Scripture! It fans the burning flames of hopeful anticipation for our eternal home in heaven. This life we live today shall not last forever, so take heart! If you're struggling and suffering, look up! Look up to the Lord and smile, because one day He will gaze upon you, lovingly in your eyes, Face to face, and say, "Well done good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21)
Eternity is coming. There will be a day when we throw off the limitations of our perishing mortal bodies and leap into the glorious realm of His heavenly courts. How marvellous!
We can live every day with this great hope secured as an anchor for our souls. We can, each and every morning, wake up, toss our hands up to the skies, and shout it out with triumphant victory, "O death where is your sting? Jesus is my victory! I am free from your chains, sin! I am free to live this life with joy, because I know I'm made clean and pure by the blood of the Lamb! Death has no hold on me!"
Are you read to conquer the day? If not, take a moment to express your neediness to the Father. He is here for us at all times. In fact, we can only ever find the necessary strength to endure by the power of His Spirit living within us.
Whenever we feel the weight of the world's woes wearing us down, we can cast those cares onto Him.
Trusting that He is good and more than faithful, we can place the things we care about in His hands. He cares for us. He cares for the things which buzz around our minds throughout the day. Let your souls, minds, and even bodies find relaxing rest in the Father. He has everything under control - His unfathomably perfect control. He is sovereign. He is gracious. He is our Lord. Amen.
