I Will Rejoice and Be Glad
I Will Rejoice and Be Glad:
"This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalms 118:24)
As the sun peaks through the clouds and spills in through the windows, the day begins afresh again. Whatever yesterday held, and whatever today may present, all of everything is held in the hands of the Mighty One - He is omnipotent.
It's easy to fear when we don't know what the day will look like, but God assures us, "I know the plan. Trust Me. Stay close to Me, and I will guide you."
Each day contains ups and downs, highs and lows... Sometimes our lives may feel like a roller-coaster... Or perhaps a fractured vase about to shatter?
Whether the day be weathered by wind and waves or paved by peacefulness, may we always proclaim, "This is the day the Lord has made. Therefore, we will look beyond ourselves, beyond our circumstances, beyond our feelings, beyond our doubts, and unto the Father. Then, and only then, shall we find real peace and rejoicing."
Remember, no matter the season, the Saviour has a reason!
"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest...A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2,4)
So if this day holds tears and pain? It is well with my soul, for I know that my God will make me whole. And if this day is flooded in favour and very much is accomplished? Still on my Saviour's breast shall I lean with intimate dependency.
~
Simply because You've made this day, God, we know we have reason to rejoice. Simply because the events that will occur are ordained by Your will, we know we can rest in trusting surrender. This is Your day, and this is our song. It is well, Lord God, it is well with our souls. We make the choice to rejoice, for it is good and pleasing to Your joy-filled heart to hear Your children singing songs of gladness and praise. No matter the season, we will always find reason for rejoicing, rejoicing unending we sing.
