Abandoning Fears

I have heard His gentle whisper. When all my struggling makes me weary, He comes in and saves me completely. The Lord is my Strength and my Refuge. Because I know He will never leave me nor become exasperated with me, I can put my trust in Him fully.
Written words make these actions of faith seem so effortless and simple, as if abandoning my fears is a piece of cake. Truth is, it's not so easy. It's not the kind of task that can be performed in an instant. It's definitely a process. I'm not going to sugarcoat this, surrendering is very difficult. It's so tempting to just stick to what you're familiar with, and continue on in your worries. It feels comfortable. You don't want to leave your comfort zone and take a risk, because you're afraid of falling. Well let me tell you something, God won't let you fall.
"He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber;" (Psalms 121:3) Even in our darkest hour, He shines His glorious light upon us. He gives hope to the hopeless. He gives peace to the restless. His peace is unlike any peace. It says in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." So, why should we be hesitant with our trust? It is written!
Even when it appeared I had no more hope, He came and rescued me. The Lord, my Savior, restored my soul, my health, and my joy. He gave to me a purpose to live. I am stronger because of His grace and glory. I am not my own, and He has made me who I am today: an ambassador for Christ.
If you've run out of cheerfulness, come to the Father. He is the Wellspring of life and joy and peace. He can calm your fears. He will hold you close. Trust that His grace is sufficient for us all. He desires an intimate relationship. You can come home. It is never too late.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)
